Clinical Supervision: The Bad, the Ugly, and the Best
Although agreement exists that clinical supervision is a distinct professional practice that requires specific competencies, supervisees continue to observe inadequate and even harmful clinical supervision practice including inattention to multicultural identities of the participants and ethical standards. Dr. Falender will synthesize research regarding helpful and less-than-helpful supervision through the lens of the supervisee and will emphasize cultural humility, multicultural identities, and ethical practice.
About the Presenter
Carol Falender, PhD, is co-author/editor of seven books on clinical supervision and consultation and has presented workshops on clinical supervision, the competency-based model, multicultural supervision, and ethics and regulatory issues in supervision in the U.S., Canada, and internationally. She received the 2023 Distinguished Award for International Advancement of Psychotherapy. She is Chair of the Supervision Guidelines Revision Taskforce for BEA of APA.
